| The Visitor Experience
The National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth, is one of the great
repositories within the United Kingdom of all types of material
including both still and moving images, sound, manuscripts, archives,
maps, printed books and other print based artefacts. The Library
houses the National Collection of Sound and Moving Images for
Wales. This current phase of development is to focus on improvements
to public access, educational provision, conservation and visitor
facilities catering for the needs of the widest spread of interest,
from those wishing to learn more in a lecture, video or exhibition
context to those using the Reading Rooms.
ACT Consultant Services were engaged to provide design and
consultancy services for the lecture theatre and the specialist
audio-visual equipment and services with particular attention
being paid to the library's presentation of sensitive materials,
archive film and use of video conferencing. The 'Drwm' (lecture
theatre) and sensitive materials display area were opened on 7
June 2004.
