The St Andrews Hall complex is the most complete remains of a Dominican Priory in England and is a scheduled monument having an illustrious history of music, festivals and civic events and a key position in the hear of Norwich. Norwich HEART (Heritage Economic and Regeneration Trust) has commissioned a study to put forward ideas for unlocking the vast potential of the buildings and provide a strategy, which will ensure a long-term future for the Hail.
Initially ACT was commissioned in February 2006 by Norwich City Council and the H.E.A.R.T. Trust to review the programming and operation of St Andrews Hall to inform the architectural feasibility study into its future. Once feasible design development has been concluded, this work will lead to an outline business plan.
ACT then worked alongside Hudson Architects, Arup Acoustics, Alan Conisbee, David Langdon and Richard Griffiths Architects on the subsequent building development study with a particular focus on the auditorium seating design. The project is continuing through a further phase of development in 2007.
